Yes, I’m a geek, I love my comic books and Spiderman was among the many. With a second girlfriend who has a GREAT name what’s not to love. Plus this comic is part of the fun loving Marvel universe which doesn’t take itself too seriously. Needless to say I couldn’t wait to see this edition. Tom Holland is the perfect Peter Parker. He definitely carries the film. The music is great and the effects are ok. Iron Man’s appearance is of course amazing but odd. Speaking of odd…Marisa Tomei as May? Huh? They don’t really do much with her character but not only does she seem an out of place odd choice but huh? Michael Keaton as the Vulture is OK, not sure if it’s him or the story that could have made it more interesting. Being a binge watcher, I found the movie was more like binge watching on Netflix than watching a movie in a theater. It had 3 distinct sections to it making it feel longer than it needs to be. Having said that, once you get through the “in-between” times, you really enjoy the action. I get that it’s a new take on Spidey and I’m cool with it but don’t try to do too much in one story unless you are capable of making it interesting enough. For that reason alone, you could almost wait to see it in the comfort of your own home. I look forward to seeing more sequels, especially of Tom in this role. Yes to date night.
